didier allyne embodies a certain kind of underground already in the mid 90 s : a record store clerk, distributor, artist and dj, he cross-cuttingly approched the scene even back then, when -french touch- was massive. embracing the new trends from a sideways perspective, he emerged with his own blend of broken beat, soul jazz and warp style electro, always keeping the groove in sight, basicaly what techno is all about, as deep and singular as it gets he began the parisian shop traffic records in 1998. this compilation will be in several volumes that have been flagship pieces of this shop influenced by fat cat records, wally s groove world in others ...this first techno volume highlights the influence that didier received at fat cat by the introspective piece stasis -so-lar- on time in right in 1993 & ritchie inkle, one of the designers of nu loop & whose piece - happy face -represents the techno sound represented by traffic records

the exaltics are back with new transmissions from their universe in form of the second part of -das heise experiment-. the first part from 2013 on abstract acid will see his follow up end of 2017 on 2xlp inclusive a comic book about the story of the heise experiment. this amazing looking shape picture disc, developed with the dutch artist godspill aka mehdi rouchiche, is -the prequel- release and sees the exaltics in assault mode. side a brings a stomper in typical exaltics style with deep strings and a pumping bassline like an alien invasion which is on course to earth. side b begins with a cryptic alien speech signal transmitted direct from the universe whilst the second track is a collaboration track with non other than dopplereffekt s rudolf klorzeiger. both artists together create a timeless electro voyage with sharp snares and fast running basslines and combine their both styles perfectly together. every record comes with a download code for the release itself and 3 exclusive bonus tracks. this release is strictly limited to 500 copies. the outer contour of the picture is also the contour of the record and makes this release to something really special and to a high collectable item.

it had been four years since juxtaposition, radians last record. chimeric is not a polished album. within the context it is raw, broken, even dark sometimes. steady, multiple rhythms, layered on top of each other disappear into chaos and turn back into discreet structures in the next moment. references of rock music, executed with the precision of a sequencer, mutated, restructured. a lot on this album is about control and the loss of control. the risk of failure. but chimeric is much more free. some of the longer pieces are composed of very different parts and different colours along a continuous timeline. they tend to evolve in a narrative form and are moving through various scenes and surroundings, which is also present in the spacial relationship between the instruments.

little is known about medicis, other than he last appeared back in 2015 on lazare hoche alongside voltery. on this, his second 12-, he strikes out on his own for the parisian deep house stable with some of that refined, head-tweaking groove fodder that has broadly defined the label since it started. -vilaroel- features shimmering tones that call to mind point g at his dubbiest, while -dissfreq- takes a sweeter route into dreamy pads and lightly shuffling drums. -carrier- is a darker, techier affair with plenty of hypnotic elements spinning in the mix, and then mdecisi old friend voltery lands a hand on the downtempo delights of -guda-.

nature documentaries of the 1970s used synthesizer music to score messages about species endangerment and environmental disaster prevention. electronic instrumentation was in itself an ominous warning of the reckless advancement of technology and an effort to audition a utopian harmony between people and machines and nature.

copenhagens music for dreams comes with yet another strong release - a double album of personal favourites compiled by jan schulte. according to all maps and witness accounts, germany does not officially have any tropical forests. this is of no concern to schulte however, who has unearthed many stunning examples of tropical drum music recorded there. perhaps the number of botanical gardens and palm houses in germany confused musicians into mistaking the climate, or maybe it was just a happy blend of escapism and multi-cultural integration within musical scenes that spawned such a curious output of undefinable tribal folk jazz. most of the tracks picked by schulte were released on small labels in the late 80 s. the musicians involved were mainly traditionally schooled, born and raised in germany. at that time to be interested in foreign folk music might have seemed a gimmick to some, what with the emerging -world music boom- already snowballing into the mainstream. but these songs, while they may be based on musical traditions from foreign lands, deal much more with introspection than exploitation. schulte himself points to his -general fascination for music that describes places where the artists have never been. songs about the jungle or the rainforest made by people that know the rainforest only from television and books. somehow i think you can hear their mythical imagination and fantasy in those tracks,- he explains....

coeo are toy tonics lead artists and they dont joke! technically perfect on a level that most producers start to get jealous. musically filled up with so much knowledge about the history of disco and house that its no wonder that big names like kenny dope, borrowed identity and tensnake are huge fans. and their styleà? its a pure hedonistic discoish attitude that combines the funk driven eclecticism of today, the curiosity of young music cats who always want to be ahead and a sense of quality in music that we miss in so many of todays house music productions. in fact its 2017 and a lot is changing in the house scene. the old melancholic deep house now is quite dead - while most deep house charts are filled up with sample based funk house. coeo are regularly on the top of the several deep house charts, and there is a reason: their tracks have that kind of new, nasty, sexualised vibe that gets more inspired from the late 1990ies french touch house or early masters at work production. from jazz djs and dj sets of wildstyle djs like harvey or the idjut boys. its not any more about the old schematic ketamine deep house that always sounds the same (and makes your feet fall asleep.) listen to flesh world! its black music basically. its booty sound. disco for sure. this track gets you riding on a trip. play it one time and youll play it every time. and: check the percussion jam remix by toy tonics head kapote.

after his banging ep 1 on aus, tee mangos back for the 5th installment in his tribute project, inspired by the much referenced theo parrish quote: love of the music should be the driving force of any producer, performer or dj. everything else stems from that core, that love. with that love, sampling can become a tribute, an expansion on ideas long forgotten, reconstruction, collage. time is now time is now comes off like adamski era seal rerub for the small hours. replete with hypnotic looped piano and drums sounding like they were lifted from vaughan mason s raze house archive. simply sweet sweet electronic music. make it last forever the b side is tee mango on home turf, with a selection of choice samples under his cap (from a record you might recognise), some simple loose sampled drums and a smattering of dub delay. love for this series coming from: axel boman, benji b, artwork, fred p, and a heap of others. these tribute releases sell out pretty quick, my hunch is that these will not hang about.

when octo octa sent us the demos for her first full-length record since 2013, we were floored by how many tracks were single worthy. but, there was one that stood out as something entirely on its own, a song that in many ways sounded like nothing maya had ever released. since the beginning, we always knew we wanted to do something special with adrift, the 8+ minute space-age synth-dub techno tune. when we asked maya about doing a 12inch with remixes we were blindsided to learn she has never had any of her music remixed before. with some remixers in mind, she asked two of her favorites and they said yes. so, here we are to present hny-016 octo octa adrift, remixed by avalon emerson and dorisburg.

all source material recorded in gran paradiso, july 2015 engineered at odd phasing and echoes, amsterdam nl photography bjnilsen bjnilsen is a composer and sound artist based in amsterdam. his work primarily focuses on the sounds of nature and how they affect humans. recent work has explored the urban acoustic realm and industrial geography in the arctic region of norway and russia. his original scores and soundtracks have featured in theatre, dance performances and film. celebrating 27 years as a recording artist massif trophies is the first solo release for editions mego. in 2015 he set off on a month long hiking trip in gran paradiso to explore the acoustic environments in the alpine landscape. drawn to the monotonous and physical effort that mountains and high altitudes contributes, this became one of the main inspirations for the album, reflecting upon the perception of the landscape during several hours of physical difficulty, let alone rapid weather changes, horizontal thunderstorms and rock avalanches. it is also about the scope of details and perception of the path and the myth of the mountain as the accursed or sacred place. the five pieces contains narratives based on experiences and recordings from the trip.

olim in latin can be used to indicate a time in the past or in the future. it can mean ‘once upon a time’ and ‘someday in the future’. a name and a project to try to move away from trends and genres, by taking inspiration from the past but at the same time leaving it, moving forward to shape a different and more narrative sound. the first attempt to do so is recursively: an 8 track album, opening with a sentence from bunny marrett sampled from an old documentary about st paul’s and the jamaican immigration in bristol during the 80’s. inspired by those intro words, recursively is a journey born from many years moving around, packing and unpacking suitcases, leaving villages, finding cities,leaving friends and finding more, emigrating, integrating. it’s a story about an entire generation trying to find the peace somewhere, somehow, sometimes by repeating the same steps in a loop of actions which seem to be the same but ultimately never are. it’s a soundtrack of those feelings and at the same time a message of hope to continue the journey through the faith that the meaning is the infinite journey itself. an infinite loop masterfully represented in carol rollo’s illustration. a story to be continued.

mytron & ofofo make multi culti great again with a full, fun, five-track ep. little is known about this freaky duo whose sound straddles opposing polarities, merging organics and synthetics, joining traditional textures with futuristic finish. these are sample-licious tracks that also feature original vocals and raw analog synths. they are noisy but clean, rough but smooth, soft and crunchy. on one hand, it s mad-cap multicultural disco funk as on si jambo (translated loosely as all good ) and 2tac onana, and on the other it s cybernetic weirdness and italo-inflected electro with non-binary joys on the venus holodeck and czary mary, which sounds like it could be the flip-side to sharivari. in between this binary divide is something for the mind, a brilliant piece of pop music that springs lightly into your brain with catchy bleeps, incredible vocoder, and a beat guaranteed to get the braindance party started.

driven by passion for quality music, easy tiger came to life in 2011. as a contemporary party series. it was born from the idea and the desire to offer something fresh to belgrade’s electronic music scene.
delving deeper into musical endeavours, marko nastic blends his essential quirky, modular soundscapes into two dancefloor oriented tracks. on his new vinyl only imprint, marko promises further explorations of the genre, octagon gate being the primary example of the abstract tendencies. the second side cut, monday surfing, brings some intricately programmed rhythms, keeping the dancefloor dynamics integrated with intricate synths and subtle pads. the first release on his own new easy tiger series is all about future thinking house music.

for its very first vinyl release after 2 years of activity in the digital realm, experimental ambient label arythmic records from strasbourg (france) did a rather bold choice by putting its hopes into a local techno artist well known for its open-mindedness and creativity: letherique. after over a year of various experiments, the best ideas were selected and compiled into a series of 3 eps, each one dedicated to a particular vibe. the first part is about the more synthetic and futuristic outcome. the second one will be rather dark and organic. finally, the third and last one will be about the more experimental and minimalistic remainder. taking from many influences way beyond the world of casual techno music, letherique ended up crafting unexpected techno tunes, usually starting with an ambient base on which he couldnÕt help himself adding beats in order to develop what he knew best. after years of activity in the dark, he needed something a little bit special to put into what he could proudly call his first ep as a testament of his passion for the infinite realms of the electronic music genre. these were the perfect fit.

rrwd is a label collaboration between ta-ku/ repeat pattern & jakarta records. charlie abbott is a 25 year old from boston, ma.living in aomori, japan who teaches high school english. i made goes to math class, over the course of about one year (from fall 2015 fall 2016ish). as for influences, i d say i was trying to go for the dirt of early quasimoto mixed with the melody of emerald fantasy tracks era lone, but i m having trouble describing it in terms of larger generic genre terms.i feel like it has a beat tape structure, and is definitely rooted in hip hop//dance music, but isn t really danceable or meant for the club.i d probably describe it as headphone music?

insgesamt fünf tracks haben die britischen alternative-pop-rocker dafür aufgenommen. die erste single »something just like this«, für die coldplay mit dem new yorker future-bass-duo the chainsmokers zusammenarbeiteten, erschien bereits im februar. im märz folgte außerdem die ballade »hypnotised« und im juni der song »all i can think about is you«.

its clear from the opening seconds of tu fawnings debut full length, hearts on hold, that theres something very, very different about this portland, oregon band. the two note trumpet refrain of >multiply a house< that echoes like the distant sound of a battlefield, the ghostly chanting writhing around it as though in a trance, the funereal drums that boom in the background and the harmonies emerging as the chorus unfurls: these are not the sound of your everyday indie rock act.

after the huge success of their first collaboration, doorly and el prevost are back for part two: this time the world touring doorly serves up a hot original that gets remixed by red rack‘em and el prevost, while el prevost also serves up an original of his own, all on his own no speakers label. the first ep, featuring a lee foss remix, got support form the likes of paco osuna, solomun and groove armada and this second instalment is set to be just as big this summer. doorly is a dance heavyweight who headlines clubs like space ibiza on his global travels, releases on cajual, hot creations and dirtybird and is no stranger to hitting high places in the charts with his big and infectious sounds. as a dj he is energetic and can make a mark on any dance floor, and so will this new tune, ’sonder.’ it is six superbly deep and atmospheric minutes of warm, rolling drums and searching synths that bring an intergalactic feel next to twinkling keys. jostling percussion brings a little loose funk and the whole thing is sure to lock in dance floors. el prevost then steps up to remix after 15 years of putting out killer cuts on labels like third ear. his music has made its way into the record bags of tastemakers like steve bug, dj hell and steffi and this excellent remix shows off his singular style again. it is a little tougher and more energetic than the original, with sprinkled hits, rumbling bass and pixelated synth lines dancing about up top. then comes red rack‘em, the bergerac boss who had a huge hit with ‘wonky disco bassline banger’ last year. it was one of the tracks of the year and has been followed by an equally brilliant album by this esteemed house veteran. his remix here is big, bouncy and off kilter thanks to its coarse hi hats and punchy rubber drums. great vocal treatment adds more wonkiness and broad synth strokes flesh things out into another sure-fire party starter that sounds like little else. last but not least, el prevost offers up a solitary state mix of his own ‘temper mental’. it’s a hugely inventive track with great synth modulations burrowing deep into your brain as dancing hi hats and whirring bass encourage you to cut loose and shift freaky shapes. this is a strong ep that really packs a punch across four standout tracks.

the message at the depth is underground rap for the digital age, far removed from the moldy crates and dusty beats of krushs mo wax classic strictly turntablized. his beats are digital, heavily resampled and quantized, splintering off like drum n bass patterns but possessing a depth and clarity not seen since the heyday of massive attack.
